Hippie Theory’s Debut Album
Hippie Theory brings you the best elements of vintage, nostalgic 70s rock updated to the present in a raw, OG manner without the sterilized processes of AI, Auto-Tune, or ultra-processing.
What you hear are a Strat and Les Pauls without any foot pedals, plugged directly into a high-powered Friedman amplifier and mic’d for recording the classic rock sound. We used similar old-school mic processes with the vocals, P-Bass, all acoustic guitars, the mandolin, and the pianos.
Recorded at the OG Criteria Studios in Miami
Hippie Theory’s debut album, Garden of Eden, was recorded spontaneously over the course of just a few days in the world-famous Criteria Studios in Miami, including in Studio C, where parts of two of the best albums of all time were recorded: The Eagles’ Hotel California and Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours.
Hippie Theory could feel the spirits and inspirations of all the prior timeless classics recorded at Criteria.
Hippie Theory also recorded parts of the songs Garden of Eden and Pill Mill Kill in Studio A on the very same Yamaha C-9 grand piano that Sir Paul McCartney played on in that same studio.
Criteria Studios has been the home for recording some of the best records, songs, and artists of all time, including but not limited to Derek and the Dominos (Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs), The Allman Brothers (Idlewild South, Eat a Peach), Eric Clapton (461 Ocean Boulevard), the Bee Gees (Children of the World, Saturday Night Fever), Black Sabbath, and Bob Marley.
Hippie Theory believes Garden of Eden is something Criteria will be proud of and that you will also find to be timeless.
The Team Behind Garden of Eden
Garden of Eden was produced by Pat Maraist, who has decades of experience as a musician, songwriter, and live music festival producer.
Hippie Theory was blessed to work with some of the best in the business, including engineers Eric Schilling (multiple Grammy Awards, Bowie, The Outlaws, Jimmy Buffett, Pat Travers, Badfinger, CSN, Sinatra, Joe Walsh, Gloria Estefan, Shakira, Madonna) and Dave Poler (Michael Jackson, Paul McCartney, Iggy Pop); mixing legend Kevin “The Caveman” Shirley (Led Zeppelin, Rush, Joe Bonamassa); Brian Lee for mastering (Brian spent decades working with Bob Ludwig, who mastered Led Zeppelin II and Houses of the Holy, and in his own right worked with Rush, Bruce Springsteen, Ozzy Osbourne, and Pearl Jam); Scott Hull for vinyl lacquer mastering (Tom Petty, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Mötley Crüe, The White Stripes, Nirvana); and Jack White’s famous Third Man Pressing for pressing and assembly of the vinyl album and packaging.
Hippie Theory was also blessed with the creative artist Marcus Bird to bring Hippie Theory’s vision for the album cover of Garden of Eden to life.
